Relic guitar loaded with dreamy hi-spec parts and mods. Think smoky clubs in the deep south. Everywhere you look, there’s something special.

NECK: She has a Fender Nashville Telecaster neck (made in Mexico) dated 2006. These are the ones with the weirdly-positioned Deluxe Series logo on the ball of the headstock.

It’s a C profile, rosewood board (9.5 radius I think) and her frets have been dressed. There are some lines in the lacquer on the headstock but purely cosmetic.

The tuners are Kluson Deluxe. She’s set up with 10-46 strings. Low-to-medium action for easy playing. I’ve also set the intonation.

PICKUPS: The neck is a DiMarzio PAF humbucker made in USA (supplied to Fender) and the bridge is from a Fender Japanese Telecaster.

The 4-way switch expands her sound to another level, giving you:

Position 1 (bridge and neck – in series): This is the extra position. Working in series, the pickups give you a much bigger, fatter sound

Position 2 (bridge only): Normal end position for that awesome Telecaster bite.
Position 3 (bridge and neck – in parallel): Normal Telecaster balanced sound.
Position 4 (neck only): Beefy DiMarzio humbucker neck sound with beefy/jazzy vibes.

BODY: I bought this after-market body from the USA. Lovely grain with a smoky tobacco retro finish (2-colour, no red).

There’s a slight widening of bridge pup route (barely visible) and the body has lots of wear from chips, micro scratches, etc. It’s a relic body. I’ve used one the excellent StewMac shims in the neck pocket to get the ultimate neck tilt in a cushioned way.

OTHER FEATURES:

Aged plastics: Pickguard (has some scratches) plus a cream switch tip for a retro vibe.

Brass bridge saddles: Great for sustain and a touch of class.

‘F’ for Fender neckplate: Looks neat, and through-body stringing always looks great.

Jack socket: She has the screw-in type rather than the original Tele design with the stupid ‘claw’ that keeps working loose and giving players endless grief.

Fender strap: It’s used but could be useful.

Hard case: Never used. Excellent condition with key. Maybe some marks here from kept in storage.

If you wish, you can peel off my Axe Relics sticker from the back of the headstock.
