I found this guitar in a neglected condition and have gently brought her back to life, reloaded her and upgraded her. Mexican made. Although dating from 2007, she’s seen action. She’s in ‘light relic’ condition with LOTS of cosmetic nicks/scratches/bumps over her. But she’s great to play.

Here’s a typical listing if you want to check out the official Fender spec. This guitar is now sold.

AWESOME SOUND – SEYMOUR DUNCAN COIL TAPPED PICKUP

She’s got the Fender classic, vintage sound with Alnico pickups in the neck and middle — and the some extra power at the bridge. I’ve added a Seymour Duncan SHR1B hot rails pickup, which retails for about £60.

So your sound is masterful at the neck, solid in the middle and edgy at the bridge — but with extra humbuckery oomph because of the SD rail pickup. The 5-way switch gives you the extra positions. While the Seymour Duncan has been coil-tapped via a push-pull Volume dial to switch between thin/thick sounds. That said, the coil tap sound doesn’t sound much different either way to me, slightly thinner/thicker.

She’s set up with Ernie Ball 10-46 strings for a comfortable medium action. I’ve also set the intonation.

NECK AND TUNERS

Classic Fender headstock and vintage tuners. There were bubbles in the lacquer around the tuners holes (seems to happen quite a lot with Mex Fender models). I managed to trim off the bubbles and refinish in gloss so you could hardly tell.  Fortunately, the factory Fender decal was unaffected.

Like vintage re-issue models, the truss access is at the heel. Here’s here 2007 serial number.

The neck is tinted for that retro vibe. It has a Maple fingerboard with 7.25 Radius. The profile is a Soft V and very skinny. The frets have been polished (the frets only have light wear). I’ve added a thin shim in the neck pocket to get optimum neck angle

There’s a scratch on the back of the neck. The scratch is only superficial and nothing to do with the skunk stripe. I filled the scratch with poly (and a nearby dink) and then smoothed for a really comfy smooth finish. There was also a chip in the pocket around the heel which has been filled.

SURF GREEN BODY

I’m a huge fan of surf green and sea foam green. Lovely retro vibe. This body is surf green. According to the Fender spec, the body is alder.

She’s in ‘light relic’ condition …. got lots of nicks, chips, bumps, scratches and other cosmetic blemishes. Well used.

OTHER COOL FEATURES

– Aged (cream) pickup covers and dials. Like 50s models, she has a single-ply pickguard. These are prone to warping over time. Not too bad with this guitar. There’s double-side on the underside of the pickguard to keep it to the body – a common tactic used by guitar techs.

– Big ‘F’ for Fender neck plate, which I’ve added (see pic right)

– Fender stamped saddles with big block trem. This is a new Fender Classic Player trem – as the old one was badly corroded. Whammy bar included.

GATOR HARD CASE

It’s a slimline Gator case in decent, used condition. The Gator case doesn’t have a key. But it’s in good order with latches/hinges all working well.
